Woodturning
Born in 1957 and raised in Coney Island, NY, Daniel moved to Florida with his parents during his senior year of high school. In his early twenties he found himself in the art and framing business. With more of a common sense left brain opposed to an artistic brain he did very well in a business that has seen many ups and downs as the largest wholesale/retail custom framer in SW Florida selling original art as well.
After 35 years of cultivating a deep appreciation and developing a love of art in all mediums he became interested in woodworking. Living with his best friend and multimedia artist Jacqueline Mack, he was inspired by her creative energy, as well as by a longtime friend who introduced him to the world of woodturning. Before purchasing a lathe, he wanted to learn other types of equipment, so he began with swings, benches, charcuterie and cutting boards as well as live edge table top wood work.
Balancing a full time business with his passion for woodworking, Daniels weekends are often filled with home projects, spending time with his wife, furkid (Boujee), previous hobbies that seem hard to give up (exotic plants) and spending time with family and friends. There is not a lot of time left for turning but when the wood starts chipping away it is nonstop work and play. His finely crafted hand sanded bowls speak volumes for his love of nature and eye for design.
